What We Do

We all share similar concerns about care for our parents, grandparents or loved ones as they age. The possibilities for care are about as numerous as the worries and oftentimes can be overwhelming. Home Connection Companions is pleased to offer a service which can provide peace of mind. We are the first step of care that allows seniors to maintain independence in their own home for as long as possible.

A companion in the past was someone with whom you broke bread. The word companion derives from two Latin words: cum, the word for “with” and panis, the word for bread. Our companions do that and much more. We provide comprehensive non-medical assistance to seniors in order to keep them independent, healthy and happy. Having the peace of mind that your loved one is in the presence of a caring person, attentive to all their needs is the greatest service we provide. We also provide social interaction and home assistance.

During their time with our companion, your loved one might wish to engage in some activities. The following is a list of common things our companions do:

• Play board games
• Read together
• Accompany to a movie or play
• Go to a museum or gallery
• Accompany to religious services
• Reminisce
• Discuss world events
• Prepare a light meal, snack, coffee, tea etc.
• Enjoy a lunch
• Knit and crochet
• Take walks
• Go shopping together
• Do household tasks (laundry, vacuuming, organization)
• Help take care of pets
• Provide transportation to and from appointments, shopping etc.
• Be present at appointments

One of the most requested services of our home companion care is transportation. If your loved one has a vehicle, our companion can drive them to and from appointments and shopping at no additional cost. For a small fee, your loved one can be driven in the companion’s vehicle to go wherever they want. As always, our companions are fully insured and bonded to provide this very useful service.

During the initial visit, our staff will ask questions to help us determine what it is your loved one wants to do during their companion time. Their likes and dislikes in any aspect will be noted. After considering these preferences, we choose a companion that will be the right fit.

Our goal is to find someone that will develop a special and lasting relationship with your loved one. Each day we continue to grow and build new relationships between seniors and our companions that enhance quality of life.
